Kingussie Camanachd Club has said it is still working closely with the Camanachd Association to deliver a high quality Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup final followed by the Final Fling concert.

At present the Red and Blues have said they are taking the responsible approach of making sure the event can take place safely.

This involves assessing whether the event can take place within the Scottish Government's Covid-19 restrictions , and also whether it will be possible to gain a licence to host the event.

Club spokesman John Robertson said: "The good news is that the Camanachd Cup Final and Final Fling will be coming to Badenoch.

"Whether it will be this year or next year will be decided within a few days and there will be an announcement soon.

"Kingussie Camanachd Club and the Camanachd Association have been in discussions since early 2021 to consider the viability of the event in Kingussie due to the numbers already confirmed and which restrictions might still be in place.

"With the demand for tickets so high – we have sold more than 900 tickets already – it was agreed that we take the responsible step of consulting the Camanachd Association on whether there is an option of deferring by one year.

"At this time, no decision has been made and no formal approach has been made to the concert bands and infrastructure providers.

"One of the issues is that the current Government guidelines for Covid-19 Level 0 is for outdoor events to have a restriction of 1,000 people.

"It is not possible to predict whether that might change over the summer."

The Kings said they hope to make a definitive announcement in the next fortnight on the final.

Mr Robertson added: "The club is due a huge thank you to everyone who has already bought tickets, and if the event does end up being postponed until 2022 then all tickets purchased so far will still be valid.

"Tickets continue to be available at the on-line ticketing platform Skiddle, while all printed tickets will be available in Caberfeidh Horizons Bookshop once the date of the event has been agreed."

Under the current Scottish Government rules in Level O areas outdoor grouped standing events are advised to operate with a maximum capacity of 1,000 people.

The 2021 final - which will be the contest's 125th outing – has been scheduled to take place at The Dell on Saturday 18th September.

The game's showpiece was last hosted in the town in 1999.
