Kingussie Shinty Club has said that a media report that it will no longer be staging the Camanachd Cup final at The Dell this Autumn is wide of the mark.

The Red and Blues have told the Strathy that they are still assessing the options available on whether the game's Blue Riband final goes ahead as planned on September 18.

The club said in a statement: "Kingussie is working closely with the Camanachd Association to deliver a high quality Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup final when it is safe to do so.

"With the demand for tickets so high selling close to 1000 tickets already it was felt we needed to consult our committee, the sponsor and the Camanachd Association to manage the opportunity responsibly.

"Nothing has been finalised just yet.”

A club spokesman promised the Strathy more details later today.

It is understood that the Covid-19 restrictions which could still limit spectator numbers to 1000 in September is at the crux of the matter particularly with the possible impact on sales for the post-match Final Fling music event starring Peat and Diesel, Manran and Keir Gibson.

The Dell had been due to stage the Camanachd Cup Final last year but the Covid-19 pandemic forced its rearrangement to this year.
