CAPTAIN James Falconer says leading Kingussie to victory in the Camanachd Cup final on Saturday would be the greatest moment of his life.

Kingussie are set to take on Oban Camanachd in the Camanachd final which is taking place at Bught Park in Inverness.

Kingussie are the holders of the trophy after defeating Lovat 3-1 in the 2022 final which took place at their home ground at The Dell.

Falconer says the chance to lift the most famous prize in the sport as captain would be his biggest achievement if they can do it.

"It would be the biggest achievement of my life," he said.

"It was a massive achievement last year and I was just playing in it.

"To lead the boys out and stand in front of everyone will be an absolute honour."

Kingussie won the grand slam of all four major trophies in 2022, but their hopes of repeating the feat were dashed when they lost in the Macaulay Cup 2-1 to Oban Camanachd last month.

Falconer says it was a disappointment they can't repeat the grand slam again, but are determined not to lose to Oban in a final for a second time this season.

"For a while, the grand slam was on, but obviously we got beat and we took it on the chin.

"But it has given us a hunger to fight back, we know that Oban aren't going to sit down and let us win as they beat us in the Macaulay Cup final.

"So we will have to come out harder this time."

Kingussie won the MacTavish Cup final in June when they beat Skye 1-0 in the final and are in pole position to retain the Premiership title as they are currently top of the table.

Falconer says Kingussie are in good form as believes they can claim a hat-trick of trophies this season.

"If we can win three out of four that would be a successful season.

"This Saturday, if we win, then we have to look towards the league as we can't afford to drop many points.

"We are fit and ready to go, anything can happen between now and Saturday but generally we are pretty good.

"Oban will be as good as they were in the Macaulay Cup final and they are fit, young, big lads.

"I can't remember the last time they were in a Scottish Cup final so they will be right up for it."
