Dunfermline athlete Rebecca Burns was crowned women's champion at the 2022 Aviemore Half Marathon.

The 32-year-old Pitreavie Amateur Athletic Club runner claimed victory on Saturday recording a time of one hour, 25 minutes and 51 seconds.

Burns was in the area for the week having a break in Boat of Garten and decided to enter the race.

She says it was good preparation for competing at the Valencia Marathon in December.

"It was a tough race, i'd say that the first five miles were ok, then I hit the first big hill and it was tough from there," she said.

"The run was really scenic, we planned to come up for the weekend and saw that it was on and I decided to enter it. It was good preparation for my marathon in December in Valencia.

"I was hoping I would win and it was a good time."

Poolewe athlete Jack Blaiklock cruised to victory in the men's race in the Aviemore Half Marathon.

The 34-year-old was well clear of the chasing pack as he claimed the title in a time of one hour 15 minutes and 22 seconds.
