POOLEWE athlete Jack Blaiklock cruised to victory at the Aviemore Half Marathon on Saturday.

The 34-year-old was well clear of the chasing pack as he claimed the title in a time of one hour 15 minutes and 22 seconds.

Blaiklock, who is originally from London and competed for Thames Hare and Hounds was pleased to come out on top on what he described as a challenging course.

"It was good race, a good run and it felt good," he said.

"It wasn't a personal best as it was quite a hard course with a lot of ups and downs and I was about five minutes off my personal best.

"The course was enjoyable but tough, lots of ups and downs and a bit windy.

"But it was good conditions other than that."

Blaiklock says he will consider coming back next year to defend his title.

He said: "We'll see, it was a nice event so I would like to."

Chris Richards finished in second place in the men's race.

Rebecca Burns from Pitreavie Amateur Athletics Club in Dunfermline won the women's race in a time of one hour 25 minutes and 51 seconds.

Natalie Stewart from Central Athletic Club was in second place.
