“It’s all about how we react,” was Kings boss John Gibson’s battle cry to his squad lost their 21-match unbeaten run against Kinlochshiel a week earlier.

And his players certainly responded as they overpowered Oban Camanachd 4-1 in their Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup semi-final tie at An Aird in Fort William on Saturday.

Gibson admitted afterwards there was additional pressure on his side with this year’s final being held at the Dell.

He said “You always try and play it down but this was a big game and a big win for us as it would be unthinkable to have the final in Kingussie and us not participating so that pressure is taken away.

“We still need to win it, of course. But with this particular final being postponed a couple of times, this has been three years in the making so it is nice to eventually be there.

“We limited Oban to few shots on target but when it was only 1-0, it only takes one shot for it to go all wrong but Lee Bain’s goal really settled things and we looked much more comfortable within ourselves after that.

“We scored four very good goals but Savio’s strike was the pick of the bunch. It was a fantastic finish.

“We had a lot of good performers and Lee (Bain) earned the man of the match accolade for his contribution and I also thought Liam Borthwick was outstanding.”

Kingussie took the lead on 21 minutes through Roddy Young and the second arrived from an unlikely source on 57 minutes when Lee Bain made a wonderful run forward from the halfway line to the edge of the D before converting.

Kingussie struck a knock-out blow on 63 minutes thanks to Savio Genini's glorious back-hand strike.

Daniel Cameron infuriated the Kingussie players with a swing at Savio Genini just after the whistle had gone with the Oban man perhaps fortunate to only receive a yellow card.

Genini limped off shortly after.

Ruaridh Anderson made it 4-0 on 66 minutes.

Oban Camanachd scored a stoppage time consolation goal as Daniel Madej swept the ball home, punishing the Red and Blues for not clearing their lines.
