Kingussie are through to this year’s Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup Final – to be held at the Dell – following their convincing 4-1 win over Oban Camanachd in the rain this afternoon.

Kingussie attacked from the start at An Aird and although Savio Genini saw an early penalty saved by Oban Camanachd keeper Cammy Sutherland that did not disrupt the Kings’ rhythm.

Roddy Young gave his side a 20 minute lead after being played in by James Falconer.

A solo effort from BBC ALBA man of the match Lee Bain just before the hour made it 2-0 and Savio Genini crashed the ball high into the net from a tight angle on the left just five minutes later.

Ruaridh Anderson’s turn and shot from a central position made it 4-0 before Daniel Madej’s injury time consolation goal for Oban Camanachd.

Kingussie will now play Lovat in the Tulloch Homes Camanachd Final at the Dell on Saturday 17 September.

Speaking straight after the final whistle, Kingussie manager John Gibson said: “This is our first Camanachd Cup Final for eight years which is far too long for us so we are delighted and the fact the final takes place at the Dell makes it all the sweeter.”

Kingussie last lifted the famous trophy in 2014 when they beat Glenurquhart 4-0 at the Bught Park in Inverness. Rivals Newtonmore have won the Camanachd Cup four times in the intervening years.
