UPDATE: Two men arrested after double crash on A9 yesterday near Aviemore and Newtonmore

POLICE have confirmed they are investigating a serious car-crash on the A9 at Newtonmore which happened earlierthis afternoon.

Emergency services were called at the scene at the Ralia junction 2pm after a two-vehicle collision.

The A9 remains closed northbound and Police Scotland remains at the scene but the southbound side has now reopened.

A Police spokesperson said: "Northbound closures were in place and may still affect spectators attempting to leave the cycling event at Nevis Range.

"Those who are leaving are asked to do so via the northbound A82 Spean Bridge to Inverness or by travelling southbound on the A82 to Fort William to help avoid delays."

Heavy traffic and delays are expected for those travelling on the route. Drivers are advised to seek alternative routes.
