Badenoch and Strathspey farmers make their point to the Cairngorms National Park Authority's bosses

If consultation between the strath's farmers and the Cairngorms National Park Authority board had not been too in-depth – as claimed by some farmers and crofters across Badenoch and Strathspey – things would appear to have changed somewhat following a 'hugely successful' meeting this evening.

Initial reports were that the event was a positive one although precise details of the meeting inside the CNPA's base in Grantown are yet to emerge of just what transpired following a protest at the park authority's offices.

Ruaridh Ormiston had travelled with other forum members to make their point to the CNPA's board that more interaction was required on just how country matters were going to proceed, not least on the reintroduction of beavers into the Spey, with the process now under way.

"We had 20 tractors there at Grantown," confirmed Mr Ormiston.

"A total of 77 people were in that board room and we achieved our objective - they said they will listen to us."

He celebrated: "I think this is a big step forward for us all."
