MANAGER John Gibson says Kingussie can now start thinking of winning a grand slam of trophies after claiming the Camanachd Cup and their third trophy this season.

Yesterday's 3–1 victory over Lovat at The Dell yesterday saw them win the Camanachd Cup to go with the MacTavish Cup and Macaulay Cup they claimed earlier in the campaign.

If Kingussie win the Premiership, they will win a grand slam of trophies for the first time since 2003, the last team to claim all four trophies in a single season.

Gibson refused to entertain any thoughts of winning a grand slam until lifting the Camanachd Cup on Saturday.

Now they are looking at seeing off Glasgow Mid-Argyll at The Dell next Saturday looking to retain their Premiership crown.

He said: "We can talk about it now, we have one trophy to win that can make us grand slam champions.

"We will party for a few days and in the middle of the week, then we will look at Glasgow Mid-Argyll."

Gibson says winning the most historic prize in the sport on their home ground at The Dell made the achievement extra special.

"It doesn't get any better than that. It has been 23 years since we last had the opportunity to do that.

"With this group of players they were totally a new generation and they were outstanding.

"Hopefully this group can now start to get to more Camanachd Cup finals, they have started winning Macaulay Cup titles and winning the Premiership and they are doing well, the real test will be how to keep it going."

Gibson says Lovat proved to be a real test but praised his team for going the distance and scoring late on.

"Lovat are a good team and we expected them to be competitive. They started the second half well and half time came at the wrong time for us.

"But as the second half wore on, fitness and extra depth made the difference."
