The Jags’ home game to Brora Rangers tonight has been postponed meaning that the fixture list is really now starting to pile up for the Grantown club.

They will hope to return to action this Saturday with just about the toughest Highland League test around – when they face champions and league leaders Brechin at home.

Thistle have not kicked a ball in competitive action since an unlucky 1-0 home defeat to Formartine United on December 16.

Manager Rob MacCormack said: “I was told on Monday night that the pitch was just about playable but if there was any more rain then it would be off.

"It is getting beyond a joke now. It has been six weeks since we last played and it means we are going to be pretty busy over the next six weeks.”

The Jags players have been training through-out apart from a short festive break.

“It has not been ideal but we have trained when we can,” said MacCormack.

And he joked: “Brechin will be a nice game to ease ourselves back into it.

"But we look forward to these big games and we just want to get going now and playing regularly so we can hopefully start picking up points.”

The Seafield Park pitch was inspected at noon but there was too much surface water for the Brora game to go-ahead this evening.

MacCormack has a full squad to call upon for Saturday’s match apart from possibly keeper Michael MacKenzie being unavailable as his wife has just given birth.
