Strathspey Thistle remain rooted at bottom of Highland League

Strathspey Thistle remain without any points in the Highland League after suffering a horror start at home to Lossiemouth United.

The Jags were trailing by three goals within the first 10 minutes against their fellow strugglers.

Henry Jordan got the visitors to Seafield Park off to a flying start in the fourth minute and then a swift Ross Morrison double (7th & 9th) meant that the Grantown side had an almighty uphill task.

In the only other Highland League clash to take place on Saturday, strikes by George Robesten and Ciaran Young landed Nairn County a 2-0 league win over Wick Academy.

In the Scottish Cup, Elgin City suffered possibly their most embarrassing result in their 130-year history in the second round of the famous old competition.

The Black and Whites were humiliated in Perth, losing 6-0 to East of Scotland League side Jeanfield Swifts.

Barry Smith's side were two down in nine minutes as Dayle Robertson and former Elgin striker Chris McLeish both found the net.

McLeish added a third midway through the half and before the half hour it was 4-0 and game over when Robertson netted again.

Chris Scott scored twice in the second half to complete a scoreline which will enraged City supporters.

Elsewhere in the cup, Brora Rangers were 2-0 winners at Stenhousemuir with Ali Sutherland and Jordan MacRae on target.

Fraserburgh conceded an 82nd minute goal to visitors Bonnyrigg Rose before Ryan Cowie levelled in the last minute to force extra time.

Huntly were heading for victory at home to Forfar Athletic thanks to Michael Dangana's first half goal but Mark Whatley equalised deep into stoppage time.

Forfar then scored twice in the first half of extra time.

Banks O' Dee were 2-0 up at Dumbarton but two goals deep into stoppage time helped the home side to a 3-2 victory.

In the only all-Highland League tie, Buckie Thistle needed a 39th minute Jack Murray goal to oust hosts Forres Mechanics.

Two Julian Wade goals helped Formartine United defeat Clydebank 3-2.

Deveronvale were edged out 1-0 by Broxburn Athletic and Turriff lost 2-1 at Cumnock Juniors.

Brechin City lost 2-1 at home to Spartans and Clach went down 3-1 at Peterhead.
