The Jags will be left to lick their wounds with no game this weekend after their 7-0 mauling at home by Banks O'Dee.

It is the first round of the GPH Builders Merchants Highland League Cup this weekend.

The Grantown side was knocked out by Lossiemouth at home 3-2 in the preliminary round.

So the Jags' focus will be on training with a session tomorrow morning planned at Inverness’ Charleston Academy ahead of a return to action the following weekend at home to Formartine United.

Manager Charlie Brown said: “We are going to work hard in training and try and get a bit of confidence back into the side and lift morale again in the camp.

"Some of the players were a wee bit deflated after Saturday.

“We will try and incorporate some fun later into the session.”

Midfielder James McShane came off against Banks O’Dee with a knock to his foot but Brown is hopeful he will be fit again in time for Formartine.

Banks O’Dee are the only team below Thistle in the Highland League.

But the Aberdeen side will not be staying there for long and are in a false position due to a 24 points deduction for fielding two ineligible players earlier in the season.

Last weekend's win means they closed the gap on Thistle to three points again.
