Strathspey Thistle boss Rob MacCormark has said that his side must learn to give themselves a chance in games.

He is urging them to dig in and be harder to beat after watching his side trail by three goals at the break in their last Highland League outing at home in the Speyside Derby.

The Jags did much better in the second half but still went down 4-2 to Rothes.

It will not get much tougher this season for the Jags than when they host high flying Buckie Thistle this Saturday at Seafield Park.

MacCormack said: “It is going to be a tough game – but they are all tough.

“I am looking for a decent performance.

“If we are going to get anything out of any game we have to give ourselves a better chance.

“Individual mistakes are inviting teams into the game early on – we are conceding when we should be trying to bed ourselves into the game.

“We have to give ourselves the best chance we possible can by staying in the game as long as we can.”

Buckie Thistle forward Josh Peters was in fine goalscoring form last night.

Buckie will come into the game in buoyant mood after an impressive win last night.

The Moray side's quest to end their seven-year trophy wait gathered pace when they thumped hosts Inverurie Locos 5-1.

Aviemore's Josh Peters struck twice in the first half and Jack MacIver made it 3-0 at the break against a Locos side now bossed by former Buckie player Dean Donaldson.

Paul Coutts' first goal for Locos from the penalty spot pulled it back to 3-1 but Peters completed his hat-trick and a last minute Jack Murray goal complated Jags' tally.

They now meet Aberdeen – the venue still to be decided – after a young Dons side beat Turriff United by the same scoreline.
