Kingussie goalkeeper Rory McGregor says he was shocked after being named man of the match in the Camanachd Cup final to win the Albert Smith Memorial Medal.
The 26-year-old plumber was outstanding between the sticks as he helped Kingussie to a 3–1 win over Lovat at The Dell.
McGregor, who is also known as Bob, was modest about receiving the award, saying he would have given man of the match to Kieran Macpherson.
But he says it was an honour to have his name engraved on the medal among famous names of the sport.
"It was a bit of a shock to be honest, I thought that Kieran probably deserved it." said McGregor.
"But it is a great honour to get this medal, it is massive, incredible, it left me speechless."
Kingussie born and bred, McGregor says to win the trophy in his home village made the achievement extra special.
"This is my second Scottish Cup winners medal, but with this final there has been a buzz in the community the whole week.
"So it is good to get our hands on the cup. Especially with the team we have, we have been three to four years together. So now we have the collection."
Kingussie went in front in the first half, but when Lovat equalised after the break, McGregor knew they were under pressure.
But he said the team's ability to score late on showed the quality they have in the squad.
"When it went 1–1, we thought they might have had the better of us, but credit to our team, we managed to get it back and get the goals."
McGregor says he and his teammates will celebrate their victory and then concentrate on winning their remaining league matches as they look to retain their Premiership title and complete the grand slam.
"We will enjoy our night and then focus on our next games.
"It all depends how we perform, but we should."
