Dylan Borthwick is already proving key for Kingussie this season as he netted both goals in their win over Glenurquhart at Blairbeg.

However, a foot injury to Liam Borthwick has cast a cloud over their Mowi Premiership victory over the newly promoted side.

Dylan Borthwick scored in the 28th and 86th minutes to secure the points and add to his winner the previous weekend in the 1-0 victory over Kinlochshiel at the Dell on the opening day of the season.

Looking back on Saturday's game, Kingussie manager Iain Borthwick said: “Dylan was excellent, and he really came up trumps again and could have had a hat-trick.

“Iain Fraser was outstanding at wing centre and its good to see him playing like that as he’s such a talent.

“The forwards played some good shinty and we could have scored more goals but Glen goalie Stuart MacKintosh made some great saves.

“Some of the challenges went too far though, and I’ve never seen anything like it.

“We had players hit on the hand, hit on the arm and of course, Liam’s injury.

“Liam has a broken metatarsal below his big toe and has a gash on the foot which is also a problem.

“It’s disappointing that he now faces a six-week spell on the sidelines as he’d been playing well.”

Kingussie’s Cameron Bremner returned from a foot injury on Saturday to face his former club and he started on the bench with Kieran Macpherson and George Taylor-Ramsay.

James Falconer was left out with a bruised ankle, so Eion Baikie started this 3pm throw up in attack.

The Glen made Lovat work for their victory the previous week as they went in search of their first points of the season.

The opener came on 28 minutes when Dylan Borthwick poked the ball by his marker and ran in before slipping the ball by keeper Stuart MacKintosh.

The clinching goal came on 86 minutes when all the forwards combined before Borthwick finished at the back post.

Indeed Borthwick could have a treble but sent an earlier effort just wide of goal.

Kingussie replaced Dylan Borthwick with Cameron Bremner just after he’d made it 2-0 as he had suffered a blow to the hand.

Bremner went to wing centre with Liam Borthwick pushed up front.

Then, as Liam Borthwick turned his man and ran towards goal, he was crudely chopped down and had to come off with what was later confirmed to be a broken metatarsal.

On Saturday, Kingussie have the first of two meetings this month with Lovat at the Dell.

This weekend’s encounter is in the Mowi Premiership whilst the other clash at the end of this month is in the cottage.com MacTavish Cup first round.

It’s also a top of the table clash with both sides winning their opening two games. Iain Borthwick added:

“Lovat had a good win at Caberfeidh last weekend so it will be tough.

“We are without Liam obviously but I’m hopeful James Falconer can return.”
