NEWTONMORE Camanachd held a night of celebration at the Balavil Hotel last Saturday.

There was a special presentation for Paul John MacKintosh who stepped down as Newtonmore first-team manager at the end of last season.

His latest spell in charge spanned seven years and yielded a trophy haul which included five Camanachd Cup successes, five league titles, two Macaulay Cups and four MacTavish Cups.

There was also special acknowledgment for Paddy Kirkpatrick for his sterling work maintaining the Eilan as one of the best playing surfaces in shinty. Scotland regular Steven MacDonald took the honours as first-team player of the year following a season during which he played a significant part of the club's Camanachd Cup and MacTavish Cup successes.

He was often called to play in different positions but always asserted his authority on the game.

Keeper Calum Grover, who represented Scotland at U17 level in 2019, was crowned second team player of the year. His reliability between the sticks was a major factor in their success.

Young player of the year went to Charlie Ferguson following a season during which he became a regular in Newtonmore's Mowi North Division 1 title-winning second team.
