Kingussie under-17 have been knocked out of the Mowi London Shield in heart-breaking fashion.

The Red and Blues and Beauly under-17 drew 2-2 in their final Mowi London Shield Section C match at Braeview Park last Tuesday.

Beauly led 2-0 at the interval through Marcus MacRae and Hector MacLennan, but the young Kings scored twice during the last 20 minutes with Dylan Justice and Miko Berowski on target.

The sides finish the group stage level on points so had a play-off match in Kingussie on Tuesday night (August 22) to see who progressed.

Unfortunately for the Badenoch side they were knocked out 3-1 in a penalty shoot-out after the teams had again drawn 2-2, this time at the Dell.

Once again it was Berowski with a brace.

Coach Ronald Ross said afterwards: “We got ourselves in a strong position going two up and maybe with a bit more experience we would have held that but we were delighted with the overall performance and desire from the players.

• The Kingussie under-14s made a winning start as they defeated Kinlochshiel under-14 3-1 in their opening Mowi Under-14 North of Scotland – Phase 2 (League 2) match at the town’s Market Stance last Friday.

Toby Thain, Kyle Mutch and Hayden Taylor-Ramsay scored the Kingussie goals in this 6pm throw up.

Newtonmore under-14s were convincing 8-0 winners over Beauly U14 in their Mowi Under-14 North of Scotland – Phase 2 (League 1) clash at the Dr Johnnie Cattanach pitch on the same night.

Throw up was at 6.30pm and James Coyle scored four times, Josh Stewart grabbed a hat-trick and Joe Coyle got the other.

Newtonmore under-14s play Oban Celtic under-14 in the MacMaster Cup semi-finals at Spean Bridge this evening (Friday).

Skye under-14s will take on Beauly under-14 in the other semi-final at Battery Park in Lochcarron.
