Kingussie Tennis Club recently hosted a sunny, fun filled afternoon tournament using a Fast 4 format.

The competitive sets of first to four games ensured maximum play for 14 couples from three local tennis clubs.

Players from Aviemore and Rothiemurchus, Newtonmore and the hosts all enjoyed an action packed afternoon.

Club spokeswoman Moira Webster said: “There was great tennis, great food and great banter.

“It was lovely to bring the tennis community together – both players and spectators – for a fun competitive event and the standard and enthusiasm was first class.”

Participants were divided into four groups with the winners from each group going into semi-finals and finals. In the final there was a close fought match and on this occasion age trumped youth with Kenny and Marj Deans winning in two hard fought sets against Anna Green and Tom Roulston.

Club president Chris Donald thanked everyone for their participation – and in particular new club secretary Mary Anderson for organising and tournament referee Helen Peebles.

Club play continues on a Sunday and Tuesday and newcomers are always welcome.
