It was a night of shocks in the North of Scotland Cup but not in Brora.

Strahtspey Thistle knew that they would be in for a tough night on the road north and so it proved as they lost 4-0.

Goals by Andy Macrae, Max Ewan, Jordan MacRae and Gregor Macdonald eased the Cattachs into the last four.

An Elgin City side littered with first team players slumped to a 3-2 defeat away to holders Rothes.

And Lossiemouth picked up their first win of the season to surprise hosts Forres Mechanics, who had made a strong start to the campaign.

Rothes knocked out neighbours Elgin last term on the way to winninbg the trophy and repeated the feat at MasKessack Park thanks to a blistering first half show.

Aidan Wilson put the home side ahead after three minutes and former Elgin City kid Jake Thomson netted his first goal for the Speysiders to make it 2-0.

Brian Cameron pulled one back for Elgin before another former Black and White, striker Greg Morrison made it 3-1 at the break.

Visiting sub Chris Antoniazzi pulled one back but Rothes held on to book a home semi-final against Clach.

The Inverness side beat Wick 3-0 with goals by James Anderson, Lewis Mackenzie and Connor Bunce inside the opening quarter of the game.

Lossiemouth made the short trip to Forres on the back of losing 13 goals in their last two league outings.

However their defence tightened up considerably as they earned a fine 2-0 win, helped by goals from two former Forres players.

Ryan Farquhar's brilliant 25-yard strike put the Coasters ahead on five minutes and Ross Archibald capitalised on slack home defending to add a second ten minutes before the break.

Lossie will now contest a repeat of last season's semi-final against Brora Rangers.
