The draw for the Strathdearn Cup has been made and pits defending champions Newtonmore seconds at home to either Inverness or Glenurquhart

Kingussie are away to Lovat and Strathspey will be on the road to Lochcarron.

It is the latest cup to be drawn with the cottages.com MacTavish Cup draw taking place last Monday and the Artemis Macaulay Cup draw happening before Christmas.

The Strathdearn Cup is for second teams in the area leagues of shinty or first teams in North 2.

Newtonmore’s second team lifted the Strathdearn Cup at the end of August with an impressive 7-1 victory in the final over Lovat seconds at Smith Park in Farr.

Lovat had gone into the match as holders after coming from 4-0 down against ’More to win last year’s astonishing final following a penalty shoot-out.

The draw for the opening rounds is as follows:

Strathdearn Cup first round (25th March): Caberfeidh v Beauly; Glenurquhart v Inverness.

Strathdearn Cup second round (29th April): Aberdeen University v Kilmallie; Skye v Caberfeidh / Beauly; Newtonmore v Glenurquhart / Inverness; Lochcarron v Strathspey; Lewis v Boleskine; Fort William v Strathglass; Lovat v Kingussie; Kinlochshiel v Lochaber
