Newtonmore to host Kingussie in MacTavish Cup semi-final

A Badenoch derby has been drawn from the hat for the MacTavish Cup semi-finals in a month's time.

Newtonmore and Kingussie were the first names out for the game to be played at the Eilan on May 13.

Kingussie progressed at the weekend with a good 3-0 win away to Lovat thanks to goals from Ruaraidh Anderson (3rd and 88th) and Roddy Young (62nd).

Newtonmore also won by three goals away to Lochaber 4-1 despite going a goal down from the host's Duncan MacKinnon in the 10th minute.

The Blue and Whites emerged victors with their goals coming from Michael Russell (24th), a Struan Ross double (74th and 88th) and Fraser Mackintosh (82nd).

The second semi-final tie will see Skye welcome Mowi National Division side Glenurquhart.

The draw was conducted earlier this afternoon by pupils from Lochcarron Primary School.

The full class were kitted out with t-shirts, bags, caps and water bottles emblazoned with the cottages.com MacTavish Cup logo as a reward for their help in completing the draw.

Camanachd Association chief Derek Keir said: “We are thrilled to see such enthusiasm and participation in the cottages.com MacTavish Cup draw.
