A pre-contract had originally been agreed for the 19-year-old to move from Strathspey to Clach in the summer, but an agreement was made to make the transfer early this week.

Chalmers says he is pleased a deal could be made between both clubs to seal the transfer to Merkinch early and is looking forward to pulling on the Lilywhites jersey again.

“Once Clach approached me and my contract was up at the end of the season, it was a no-brainer that is where I wanted to play,” he said.

“That is where I want to play my football for the forseeable future and I just can’t wait to get going.

“They are my local Highland League team which is good for me to be involved in as well.

“I signed a pre-contract to go at the end of the season, but for both parties it was agreed it would be best for me to go now.”

Chalmers was previously on loan at Clachnacuddin during his time as a youth at Inverness Caledonian Thistle four years ago.

He says it is a different looking squad, now but says it is one full of potential with the talented young players they have.

“There has been a clearout of players from the squad I played at Clachnacuddin back then.

“But I enjoyed myself back then and I am sure I will enjoy myself again this time.”

Chalmers says he was impressed by the ambition of the club and manager Jordan MacDonald to make Clachnacuddin a stronger force in the Highland League again.

“Jordan is a good guy and once I spoke to him he told me of the plan he has in place of where he wants to take the club.

“He has a lot of ambition and the thing he is doing there is give young boys a chance. They also brought in some talented boys with experience which is good.”
