Badenoch went two points clear at the top of the Mowi National Division, increasing their goal difference into the bargain, as they won 12-1 against Ardnamurchan at Strontian.

Badenoch fielded their first-ever mother-daughter duo as Lexi Farquhar played alongside mum Sarah Caird, scoring two goals on her senior debut. Jeanette McGregor netted four times with Orla Olds getting a hat-trick.

Rachael Borthwick bagged a brace and Hope Borthwick scored the other in Sunday’s match

Millie Lavin also made her senior debut, playing the full 80 minutes.

Caird said: “ I was really proud that Lexi was selected along with some of the younger girls to represent the first team when we were short due to injuries and other commitments.

“Not only that but she stepped up and played really well linking up brilliantly with our experienced girls up front Jeanette McGregor and Rachael Borthwick.

“Playing with the Kingussie u14s and the Badenoch Ladies second team has really helped her confidence.

“Our club is full of role models that Lexi looks up to and the encourage- ment she gets is second to none.

“I nearly hung up my boots last year but this was the aim for this year to play alongside Lexi at some point in the season. I’m delighted we have had that chance already!”

A good day for Badenoch got even better with news that title rivals Lochaber had gone down 3-2 against Glasgow Mid Argyll.

Badenoch are in Mowi National Division action again on Sunday as they host Inverness.

Badenoch B and Skye Camanachd B shared the points following an entertaining goalless draw in their Mowi North Division 2 game at Market Stance on Sunday. Badenoch B are scheduled to travel to Lovat in the league on Sunday.

Strathspey lost 2-0 against league leaders Strathglass in their Mowi North Division 2 game at Grantown Grammar School on Sunday.

The goals were both scored by Isla Strachan. Strathspey are scheduled to play Inverness B at the Bught Park outside pitch this Sunday.
