Rothiemurchus and Aviemore Tennis Club is in the running to be in with a chance to receive a Tesco Community Grant.

The club is asking shoppers in the strath to put their blue token into the collection box for the club which is based at Inverdruie.

R&A Tennis Club spokeswoman Yvonne Birnie said: “Tennis may sometimes be considered an expensive sport.

“We want to inspire the next generation of tennis players in our local schools.

“This fund will allow us to provide an introduction to tennis and its physical and social benefits by providing coaching sessions and the provision of rackets and balls.”

• Kingussie men’s tennis team is hosting three evenings for male players aged 16 and over to join them on Tuesday evenings for a ‘hit’

The sessions will be held next Tuesday (July 25th) and August 1st and 8th.

All equipment will be supplied. There is no need to book – just turn up from 7pm at the club on the town’s Ardbroilach Road.
