Jags goalkeeper Michael MacCallum will not be re-signed for the new season, the Grantown club has confirmed.

Manager Robert MacCormack confirmed that work commitments have prevented the Thistle favourite from extending his stay at Seafield Park.

He said: "With his work situation he wasn’t able to commit to Highland League football. Michael is a great guy and a very good goalkeeper. We wish him all the best."

The 33 year old joined Strathspey Thistle in July 2015 after spending five years at Nairn County.

A regular for the Jags in his first five seasons at the club, the 6' 3" stopper has shared the number one shirt with Callum Donaldson and Elgin City loanee Oliver Kelly during the last two campaigns.

After his release in March, he briefly played as a trialist for Rothes and North Caledonian League side Invergordon.

Thistle have boosted their options between the sticks with the addition of James Kendall in the latter half of last season, and the former Nairn St Ninian goalkeeper has already agreed terms for the 2023-24 season.

MacCormack added: "We have James Kendall right now and I'll be looking to add one more goalkeeper very soon. James has been superb since I’ve been at the club. He is a very good keeper and we are delighted he’s signed an extension for this season too."
