Salmon landings on they Spey see a big drop in numbers

Latest stats from the Spey Angling Improvement Association confirm that 22 salmon, 19 grilse and 58 sea trout have been caught since the last report, bringing the total for the season to 65, 27 and 125 respectively compared with141, 44 and 108 last year.

Catches recorded:

Aug 28 Callum Logie, Grantown, two 4lb grilse from Dulnain Mouth (spinner); Alan Atkins, Grantown,10lb salmon from Poll a Cearan (fly).

Aug 25 Nigel Davies, visiting, 5lb grilse from Bailliefurth Pool (worm).

Aug 28 Nigel Davies, 5lb grilse from Dulnain Mouth Pool (spinner); James Burkinshaw, visiting, 4lb grilse from River Dulnain (worm).
