The Kings will be crowned on Saturday but there is still one individual accolade up for grabs to conclude a memorable season.

At the end of a long but fruitful campaign, the Red and Blues will be presented with the Mowi Premiership trophy following their final league match against Lovat at Balgate on Saturday.

The match provides Kingussie’s Roddy Young with the opportunity to be shinty’s top senior scorer.

He is currently tied with Caberfeidh’s Craig Morrison on 36 goals but Cabers have completed all their games so a single strike will be enough to send Young to the top of the charts.

This fixture was called off in controversial circumstances four weeks ago when Lovat ruled their field was unplayable on the Saturday morning.

Nearing the end of a season that started with a 7-0 Mowi Premiership win over Caberfeidh on March 5, Kings manager John Gibson said: “We are looking forward to getting the game played.

“We’ve stopped training now and the guys need a break but this match rounds off what has been a fantastic season.

“The boys will be motivated by the circumstances surrounding the recent postponement against Lovat, if any extra incentive were needed.

“We’ll have Ryan Borthwick back from holiday but we won’t have Louis Munro or Fraser Munro.

“Rory MacKeachan is looking to swap shifts to play – something he has done several times this season – otherwise, we will be along usual lines.”

Martin MacLean is the match referee and throw up at Balgate will be at noon to allow the players and management to head for Fort William afterwards for the 2022 Mowi Awards ceremony.

Afterwards, Kingussie will take the Premiership trophy back to the Dell where it will join the Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup, the Artemis Macaulay Cup and the cottages.com MacTavish Cup in the trophy cabinet.
