Kingussie lift third Mowi Premiership title in a row
Kingussie clinched the Mowi Premiership title for the third successive time after defeating Skye Camanachd 4-0 at the Dell on Saturday.
Ruaridh Anderson scored the only goal of the first half on 14 minutes as Kingussie laid siege on the Skye goal from the throw-up.
The islanders resisted best they could until five minutes into the second half when Ruaridh Anderson scored again to make it 2-0.
James Falconer on 66 minutes and substitute Eoin Baikie with 15 minutes remaining made the final scored 4-0.
The victory completes a treble in manager Iain Borthwick’s first season in charge, as Kingussie add the league championship to the Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup and the cottages.com MacTavish Cup won earlier in the season.
A delighted Iain Borthwick said afterwards: “The boys have worked hard all season, and it is nice to see that hard work pay off with three trophies.”
The win also means the Kings have sealed the title ahead of their final match of the season, a Badenoch derby against Newtonmore at the Dell on Saturday.
The official presentation will take place afterwards when, after a long season, Kingussie captain James Falconer will finally get his hands on the Mowi Premiership trophy.
