Kingussie Camanachd has issued an apology following an oversight that meant their Premiership match at home to Skye at the weekend had to be postponed.

The statement was issued following a meeting of the club's committee last night.

It states: "Kingussie Camanachd Club would like to apologise for the administration error that led to the postponement of our Mowi Premiership match versus Skye Camanachd at the Dell on Saturday.

"The guidelines sent out to clubs by the Camanachd Association at the start of every season are very clear and the home team should contact the referee and opposition by the Wednesday before each match.

"Due to an oversight this did not happen before the Skye match and the referee Graham Cameron informed us he would not attend, meaning the match could not take place.

"We apologise to all concerned and have taken steps to ensure this does not occur again."

Kingussie are now focused on Saturday’s Artemis Macaulay Cup semi-final against Oban Camanachd at Mossfield.

Manager Iain Borthwick said: “Cameron Bremner was suspended for the Skye game so he’ll not be available against Kinlochshiel.

“Thomas Borthwick had a knee problem so wouldn’t have played against Skye but he’ll be fine for this Saturday.

“Kinlochshiel will be a tough one. They were on a good run before last Saturday and these ties are always one-offs, it is about who-does-what on the day, but I can’t wait to get the game started.”
