Jags boss Rob MacCormack is looking for a repeat of last weekend's performance this Saturday away to Huntly.

MacCormack took plenty of positives from his side’s narrow 1-0 defeat to high-flying Formartine despite seeing the gap at the bottom grow.

Inverness Clach picked up their first win of the season to move onto eight points – four clear of the Grantown side.

But MacCormack thought that his side was worthy of a point at Seafield Park after going down to a fifth minute goal from Adam Emslie.

And he believes a similar display again this weekend in Aberdeen-shire would be good enough to come away with something.

He commented: “I have said that to the players.

“I think the last couple of games we were beaten 2-0 against Forres Mechanics and 1-0 against Formartine and in both games I truly believe that we deserved something out of the game but we have got to start turning these good performances into points.

"The big thing now is to push on and pick up points. If we go about our business the same way as we did last Saturday then I do not see why we can not get a positive result at Huntly.”

He was not duly upset by Clach’s 3-1 home win over Keith despite it widening the gap at the bottom of the table.

MacCormack said: “Clach were going to win at some point – we knew that.

“We know what we have to do and we are not really interested in what other teams are doing.

“Hopefully come the end of the season we will have done enough to achieve what we want to achieve.

Keeper Steven Martin will be back in the reckoning as well as James McShane and hopefully Michael MacKenzie but he will need to undergo a late fitness check ahead of Saturday.

The Jags had to field coach veteran Robbie Flett in between the posts against Formartine.

MacCormack said: “Robbie Flett played in goal and he’s 40 now.

“He has not played in a while and he came in and was brilliant.

“I don’t think that he was feeling that great on Sunday but he certainly did the business for us!”

But the Jags should have their number one keeper back involved for Saturday’s trip.

MacCormack said: “Steve should be back and hopefully we are going to address our goalkeeping problem soon.

“We had Ruardhri Nicol in from Brora but he’s had a bad foot injury and unfortunately he is having to go back to his club Brora Rangers earlier than we wanted.

“We are in the middle of looking at our goalkeeping situation.

“We also have Calum Ligertwood on our books but he is unavailable right now.

“To be fair to Ruardhri he came in for his first game for us against Nairn and he actually injured his foot during that game but he has gone onto play three or four times for us but everytime he has been between the sticks for us he has been injured.

“It looks like he has cracked a bone on the top of his foot so he is going to be out for around three months.”
