The appointment comes five weeks after Strathspey Thistle appointed Rob MacCormack as their first team manager.

Former Nairn County deputy Rae stepped down from his role as assistant at Station Park last September when he and manager Ronnie Sharp left the club.

The ex-Rangers goalkeeper, whose past clubs also include Ross County, Buckie Thistle and Lossiemouth, joins Thistle until the summer of 2024.

Jags boss MacCormack said: "I'm absolutely delighted to get Mike in as my assistant. It's a massive coup for the club.

"He will undoubtedly help the club get to where we want to be and from a personal point of view it will be a massive help to me with his experience and knowledge of the game."

Rae is expected to be in the dugout for the Jags' Wednesday night trip to meet Wick Academy in their latest Highland League encounter.
