Brechin City made it seven wins out of seven with a 5-0 victory against Strathspey Thistle at Grantown's Seafield Park on Saturday.

The Grantown side remains rooted at the bottom of the Highland League but fellow strugglers Nairn County, Huntly, Deveronvale and Clachnacuddin have yet to open up any significant gap.

Brora Rangers won by the same 5-0 scoreline at home against Deveronvale to keep up their title chase.

Lossiemouth and Keith recorded impressive victories in the Highland League too, as Buckie Thistle moved second in the table.

However, there were disappointing defeats for Moray sides Forres Mechanics and Rothes.

Lossie continued their mightily impressive form – making it four wins out of six games in all competitions with a 5-1 thrashing of Nairn County.

Ross Elliott gave the Coasters the lead, before Dean Stewart scored two penalty kicks, either side of a Liam Shewan goal for the Nairn.

Baylee Campbell and Liam Archibald scored the fourth and fifth goals to round off a tremendous day for the home side.

Formartine United started the day in second place – but were given a shock by Keith, who made it back-to-back victories with a 1-0 success at Kynoch Park.

Kieran Mooney grabbed the winner for the Maroons.

Buckie Thistle took advantage of that result to move into second place themselves, with one early and one late goal from Andy MacAskill giving the Jags a 2-0 success over Huntly.

There was disappointment for Moray's other two sides. Rothes went down to a 4-1 defeat against Clachnacuddin for the second time in just four days.

James Anderson and Paul Brindle both grabbed a brace for Clach, with Rothes' consolation scored by Alan Pollock.

Forres Mechanics were also beaten, going down to a 2-0 loss at Turriff United thanks to goals from Reece McKeown and Rory Brown.

Elsewhere, there was a smashing 8-0 victory for Banks o' Dee on the road at Wick Academy – who had previously won all of their matches at Harmsworth Park.

Fraserburgh's title defence took another dent as the Broch went down to a 2-1 defeat at home against Inverurie Loco Works.
