Strathspey Thistle came within a few minutes of ending their long losing run only to be hit by two late goals by visitors Lossiemouth on Saturday.

After a goalless first 45 minutes at Seafield Park, captain Liam Archibald fired the Coasters ahead before Alan Kerr's 75th minute strike looked on course to snatch a point for the Jags.

But agonisingly Fraser Forbes struck for Lossie on 89 minutes and Ross Archibald joined his twin brother Liam on the scoresheet to seal a 3-1 victory for the Moray side.

Elsewhere, Buckie Thistle returned to the top of the Highland League with a 3-1 win over on-form Nairn County.

Nairn scored first through an early Ross Tokely penalty with Max Barry levelling midway through the first half.

Joe McCabe fired Buckie ahead on 56 minutes and ten minutes later top scorer Josh Peters scored to seal victory for Jags.

With previous leaders Brechin City seeing their home clash with Fraserburgh postponed, Buckie's win took them to the top by two points although Brechin have two games in hand.

Brora Rangers hit top form to thrash hosts Forres Mechanics 8-0.

The Cans scored eight goals the previous weekend against Strathspey Thistle but were on the receiving end of an eightsome reel in their next fixture.

Tony Dingwall, Andy Macrae and Max Ewan had the Cattachs 3-0 ahead at half time.

Forres could not stop the flow of goals in the second half with Gregor MacDonald adding two, Macrae netting his second and Martin Maclean and Jordan MacRae also on target.

Formartine United beat Huntly for the fourth time this season as goals by Kieran Adams and Aidan Combe in the final 20 minutes earned a 2-0 success for the Pitmedden men.

Managerless Inverurie Locos were inspired by a hat-trick performance from striker Garry Wood as they beat Deveronvale 4-0, Lloyd Robertson also scoring.

Strikes by Magnus Watson and Hamish Macleod just after half time earned Banks O' Dee a 2-0 success over Turriff United.

And three first half goals were enough to set up a 3-1 Wick Academy win at Clach.

Jack Henry grabbed two and James Flett also netted for the Scorries with James Anderson's late effort giving Clach a consolation.
