Highland League round-up: Jags lose again while Brechin City go top with stoppage time penalty kick

Strathspey Thistle remained off the bottom of the Highland League despite their 2-0 loss at home to Formartine United.

United struck late in Grantown through a Julian Wade penalty and Graeme Rodger goal.

However, Banks O' Dee lost 4-3 to Inverurie Locos and remain at the foot of the table following their 24 points deduction.

Garry Wood netted twice for Locos with Jamie Michie and Rob Ward also on target at Spain Park.

Dee had led through a Neil Gauld penalty before going 4-1 down then rallying through goals by Lachie Macleod and Hamish Macleod.

The Angus side came from behind to defeat Forres with a stoppage time penalty, going above Buckie who lost 1-0 at Fraserburgh.

A shock result was on the cards at Glebe Park when Jack Grant fired Forres into a 20th minute lead, which they held well into the seocnd half.

Forres' resistance was finally broken when Brechin levelled through Marc Scott on 67 minutes.

Unbeaten Brechin's efforts to grab a winner were thwarted until beyond the 90 minutes when they were awarded a penalty and Grady McGrath slammed home his 18th goal of the season to win it for the home side.

Unlucky Forres' fortunes went from bad to worse when Dale Wood was shown a red card.

Buckie lost out to a Scott Barbour goal on 20 minutes, with Barbour seeing a penalty saved by Jags keeper Bal Demus five minutes later.

Deveronvale pulled away from the bottom after a 3-2 victory at Lossiemouth.

Huntly went down 2-0 at Clach, James Anderson scoring both goals including a first half penalty.
