The first Badenoch derby of the season between Newtonmore and Kingussie takes place tomorrow (Saturday) with two Mowi Premiership points and the local bragging rights up for grabs at the Eilan.

The Blue and Whites got a morale-boosting win over Cabers to claim their first two points of the season whilst defending league champions have got maximum points this season with three wins out of three.

Newtonmore co-manager Norman MacArthur said: “We’re in a better place after the Caberfeidh win but especially after our first half performance. That said, this game always looks after itself.

"They have had the better of recent encounters, but we have been getting closer.

“Martin Hall is free of suspension but he’s on holiday. We didn’t risk Craig Ritchie against Caberfeidh, but he comes into our thoughts for the weekend.”

Kingussie manager Iain Borthwick said: “We had hoped to have James Falconer back against Lovat, but he’s been to the doctor, and he still has a problem with his heel.

"It doesn’t look good for him making the Newtonmore game, but we’ll see.

"With Liam Borthwick and of course Roddy Young both still out, I’m just so thankful for the depth of our squad.

“Newtonmore had a good win at Caberfeidh last weekend which makes it very interesting.

"This is a game we all look forward too and we want to take our second half performance against Lovat into the Newtonmore match.”
