Duncan Ferguson has been confirmed as the new manager of Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

The 51-year-old has been named as the successful candidate of the Championship outfit as he joins one a three-year deal and he is being unveiled at his first press conference this morning.

Ferguson replaces Billy Dodds who was sacked as manager nine days ago after a run of nine games without a win in all competitions with Inverness bottom of the league with just one point.

The ex-striker joins Inverness Caledonian Thistle two months after he was sacked as manager of English League Two club Forest Green Rovers, after less than six months in charge.

During his playing career, Ferguson played for Dundee United, Rangers, Everton and Newcastle as well as played for Scotland seven times.

During his coaching career, Ferguson was appointed as first team coach with Everton in 2014.

Following the dismissal of manager Marco Silva in December 2019, Ferguson was named as caretaker manager of Everton.

After Carlo Ancelotti was appointed manager, Ferguson was made assistant manager, a role he also worked under Rafael Benítez who took charge in 2021.

In January 2022, Ferguson was appointed caretaker manager following the sacking of Benítez before Frank Lampard was appointed as the new manager.

Ferguson remained at the club for the rest of the season as a first-team coach, before announcing leaving in July last year.

In January, Ferguson was appointed head coach of League One side Forest Green Rovers, his first managerial role of his career.

However, Forest Green were relegated to League Two and Ferguson left the club in July after only 18 matches in charge when they only recorded one win.

The new manager's first game in charge will be against Arbroath at Gayfield on Saturday.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle have gone 10 games without a win after losing 1-0 to Dundee United on Saturday.

They only have one point so far and are three points off Greenock Morton in ninth.
