Veteran forward Glen MacKintosh will captain the Newtonmore second team for the 2024 shinty season.

Manager Peter Ross revealed the new appointment earlier this week. He said: “Glen, along with Jason Macdonald and Cameron McNiven are our older players who regularly play in the side each week.

“Having Glen involved is like having a coach on the field.

“He’s a leader and, in his own way, he also offers a certain level of protection for the younger lads.

“If you watch him play, you’ll see Glen’s always trying to bring the younger players into the game.

There are times where he could shoot for goal himself, but he’ll spread play and pick out one of the younger lads.

“He missed six games for us last season but still scored plenty of goals and I still think he is the best striker at our club.”
