Kingussie to meet Beauly in quarters of Camanachd Cup

The quarter-finalists of the Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup now know who to expect in their next ties.

The draw was made this morning by John MacRitchie, officials director, and Steven MacLachlan, shinty referee.

It took place at Balgate, Kiltarlity the home of Lovat Shinty Club.

Mr MacLachlan is recovering well from a critical cardiac incident that took place at the beginning of April and was today presented with his new strip as he looks set to make his return to officiating at the cottages.com MacTavish Cup Final on June 8 as a goal judge.

The 2024 Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup Final is set to take place on September 21 at An Aird, Fort William and tickets are available now at www.shinty.com/tickets .

July 6 quarter-final draw:

Beauly vs Kingussie

Fort William vs Glasgow Mid Argyll

Oban Camanachd vs Lochaber

Lovat vs Skye

Burton Morrison, Camanachd Association president said: “The quarter final draw of the Camanachd Cup never fails to create interest in the shinty world as teams begin to assess their chances of taking another step towards the big final.

“The fact that several top clubs dropped out of the competition last weekend may stimulate even greater interest. The draw is another opportunity to recognise the support of Tulloch Homes, and will no doubt produce some exciting ties for the supporters to savour.”

Tulloch Homes managing director Sandy Grant said: “It’s been an exciting season for the Camanachd cup so far – and I’m sure it will continue to deliver through to the final in September.

“We wish all the teams in the quarter finals the very best of luck with their upcoming games, which, I’m sure will be an entertaining watch. We, of course, also extend our well wishes to Steven MacLachlan and his family and are pleased to hear he is recovering well.”

Mr MacLachlan said: “I’m really looking forward to getting back out there after completing my recovery and I was delighted to be offered the opportunity to be part of the team of officials at the first final of the season and hopefully, will soon be able to take full charge of a match.

“I was one of the officials for Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup Final in 2023 and it is truly the biggest event in the shinty calendar, best of luck to all the teams in today’s draw.”
