Three levels of youth shinty, the Badenoch ladies and those who make the club tick so well were all singled out for praise at the club's AGM.

Past president Russell Jones pointed out at the recent AGM: “Our under-17s reached a semi-final and performed well and the under-14s had a solid second half of the season which bodes well for this year.

“The primary school did very well, especially in six-a-side competitions, picking up a few trophies and the 12-a-side Kingussie/Kincraig team did very well in the Camanachd Association trophy.

“We don’t have huge numbers at primary and youth level but we have great coaches and I want to say a special thank you to Jeanette and Elizabeth McGregor for their work with the primary kids over the last few years.

"Netty and Betty are taking a step back this year but hopefully we will see them back on the training pitch in the future.”

Mr Jones also highlighted Badenoch Ladies following another successful season, saying: “Badenoch’s success at first team level is superb for our area but, just as importantly, the addition of the Badenoch second team and the sporting opportunity offered to girls in Badenoch is incredible and passing the Stance some Wednesday evenings last summer and seeing 30 girls playing shinty was just remarkable.”

Club legend Ronald Ross was congratulated on his induction into Scotland’s Sporting Hall of Fame.

The hard work put in by club volunteers and the support and generosity of the local community meant the financial accounts were described as being in “rude health”, with special thanks to prominent businesses Thain Electrical and Allan Munro for their sponsorship.

There was also special mention for lottery manager Gail Paterson for all her efforts.

It has been a busy 12 months for Kingussie Camanachd both on and off the park and all those involved with the club were encouraged to not to stand still but to work even harder to keep the Red and Blues out in front.

The same committee members remains in post with new members Robert Mabon and Rory MacKeachan added.
