Badenoch shinty club’s two coaches have signed off appropriately enough with a double at the Mowi national shinty awards.

Scott Campbell and Iain Robinson were named as Mowi WCA National Division coaches of the year for the second successive season.

The pair have stood down from the role at the Kingussie based ladies club who claimed the top-flight title again this past season.

The players and officials’ achievements were recognised with the club being named Mowi National Division club of the year.

There was also a Mowi service to women’s shinty award for long-serving stalwart Scott Campbell.

As well as his trophy-laden six-year stint with Badenoch, Campbell was four years with the Scotland senior squad as an assistant head coach to Stuart Reid.

Add in a year managing South senior squad and a year managing North senior squad, as well as an active attendance at around half a dozen women shinty camps, and it easy to see why the likeable ex-Newtonmore Camanachd Cup winning captain has been recognised in this way.

Campbell said: “I am absolutely delighted to have received the service to women’s shinty award. It is a massive honour and one that will always be very special to me.

“There are many great volunteers involved in the women’s game, so to be selected for this award is truly humbling.”
