Badenoch Ladies headed to the Eilan – with The Dell a washout the previous day – to face Lochaber for the second match in a row.

The WCA National Division match the previous Sunday away from home had ended in an 8-1 win for the Kingussie based side.

Both teams were having some joy in the final third but it was to be Badenoch who were to strike first.

A good ball played down the middle by Kirsty Deans left Zoe Reid one on one with the keeper before converting.

But it was to be a day of frustrations for the Badenoch forward line.

Shot after shot missed the target with some determined defending adding to the home side's frustrations.

Shortly before the half time whistle keeper Elizabeth McGregor was called into action making a good save.

Lochaber's Kirsty Delaney got a bit of time to fire a shot that was heading for the bottom corner but for the stick of McGregor putting it wide.

With just the one goal splitting the teams at the interval, it was Lochaber that came closest next.

Jeanette McGregor misjudged the ball from a corner and it fell for Delaney before her sister saved leaving Claire Delaney with an open goal to fire into but somehow she put it past the post.

Badenoch continued to be wasteful upfront.

Fortunately Roma Fraser and Rachael Borthwick were having a great game in the defence limiting chances for the Lochaber forwards.

With minutes remaining on the clock it was Reid again who relieved the pressure adding a second goal to make the game and points safe.

Badenoch defender Jeanette McGregor said afterwards: "We played some nice shinty to create the opportunities up front but it was just one of those days at the office.

"We knew Lochaber would be looking for revenge and they certainly made us work for the two points."

The Kingussie team travel to Grantown neighbours Strathspey on August 25 for their next league game.

Badenoch squad: E McGregor, J McGregor, R Fraser, R Borthwick, S Caird, R Stewart, M Ralph, Z Reid, K Deans, R McIntyre, M Stewart, H Borthwick, E Ross, K Falconer, R Forbes & S MacWhirter.

Other results from MOWI National Division: Skye 9 GMA 0; Glenurquhart 1 Strathspey 3.
