Ever fancied yourself as a budding Steve Clarke or Shelley Kerr?

Or maybe you’re desperate to unleash your inner Jurgen Klopp?

Strathspey Rovers is far from the dizzy heights of the national squad or the English Premier League but they do need to add to their coaching talent.

Strathspey Rovers Soccer School has grown substantially post lockdown and in order to look ahead to a successful 2022/23 season, the kids’ football club needs to recruit new coaches now, so that they can hit the ground running in August.

Karen Archer, chair of Strathspey Rovers, explained: “We now have over 80 players signed with Strathspey Rovers across four teams, and while we have a dedicated hard working team of coaches and helpers, we need more.

"We have to be able to deliver quality coaching during the week and also have sufficient qualified coaches available at weekends to cover games. Many hands make light work!

“We’re looking for volunteer coaches who can inspire children to enjoy playing team sports. No experience is necessary although some knowledge of football would be an advantage.

"The club can organise PVG checks, first aid and coaching courses for anyone who is interested.

"With more coaches, the club can open up to more players and any children interested in playing for Strathspey Rovers come August, are welcome to come and try at any training night during the Easter to Summer term."

Training takes place in Aviemore on Wednesday nights for U16, U12 and U10 and Cromdale Park for U14.

Mark Wharton, Strathspey Rovers head coach said: “Strathspey Rovers Soccer School welcomes boys and girls, and for the first time we are opening up to children as young as P4, so we are keen to sign new players in August from P4 right through to S4 across all our teams, particularly our Under 10 and Under 16 squads.”

Strathspey Rovers operates under the Scottish Youth Football Association, Moray Firth Youth League and the Scottish Highland Football League. For more information contact Mark Wharton on 07826 505275 or Karen Archer on 07974 077892 or find Strathspey Rovers Soccer School on Facebook.
