The Camanachd Association has confirmed there will be no shinty this weekend following the death of the Queen.

President Steven Mackenzie said: “On behalf of the Camanachd Association, we extend our deepest condolences to the Royal Family following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

"As a mark of respect the Camanachd Association will join the nation in a period of mourning this weekend and reflect on the sense of service and the spirit that characterised Her Majesty’s long reign.

"All organised shinty fixtures and events for the weekend of 10th September are to be postponed.

"The Camanachd Association board of directors and staff will consider the official mourning guidance which we expect to arrive later today and will advise all clubs of next steps in due course."

Newtonmore seconds had been looking to complete the second leg of a cup double against the Lovat seconds in the HIS Sutherland Cup Final at Blairbeg tomorrow.

The sides met in the Strathdearn Cup Final recently when Newtonmore won 7-1 and they went into this clash as holders after beating Lovat 5-1 in last year’s final.

Also off is Kingussie's away game against Oban Camanach at Mossfield Park as they looked to bag the few remaining points to claim this season's Mowi Premiership title.

Strathspey had been due to go to Spean Bridge for a Mowi North Division 2 meeting with the Lochaber second team.
