Both motorcycles involved were BMW R1200s, one of which was travelling north and the other southbound.

A 49-year-old man was airlifted to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness following the incident.

His injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening.

The 47-year-old male rider of the other motorcycle was uninjured.

The road was closed for around four hours to allow for an investigation at the scene.

Sergeant David Miller of Highland and Islands Road Policing said: "We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances leading to this collision.

"I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have dashcam footage to get in touch.

"Anyone with information can call 101, quoting incident 1745 of 8 August."
