Highland Council has announced a delay to new speed limits which were due to come into force on the C1126 Glenmore to Cairngorm Mountain Road in mid-December.

The new limits will also affect the B970 Aviemore – Inverdruie – Coylumbridge - Nethybridge Road.

The recent cold weather has prevented the speed limit signing works from being implemented as planned.

"A decision has therefore been made to push the proposed ‘live’ date for the new speed limits from December 15, 2023 to January 29, 2024," a spokesperson said this morning.

"Highland Council apologises for any inconvenience this may cause, however the weather has not co-operated on this occasion and delivery was not possible."

Following the conclusion of a consultation on a proposed speed limit scheme the process is now at the construction phase.

Local contractors have been appointed for the installation works and they are due to begin soon.

The works will take approximately three weeks to complete and the new implementation date for the new speed limit orders is 29 January 2024.
