William and Kate to visit Highland youth mentoring charity DAY1

The Duke and Duchess of Rothesay will today visit a Highland-based charity with a track record in transforming young people’s lives.

William and Kate will be in Inverness as part of a series of Scottish engagements, including visits to organisations supporting rural communities.

Their Royal Highnesses will meet with staff from award-winning DAY1, based at Fairways in Inshes, and learn more about how it provides mentoring, training, personal development and employability services to vulnerable young people.

DAY1 aims to equip young people with the social and emotional skills to succeed in life through mentoring and personal development programmes.

These allow participants to build self-reliance, self-confidence and helps them identify their own interests giving them clear direction in their lives.

The charity also owns and runs the social enterprise Inverness Kart Raceway which serves as the location for its apprenticeship scheme in automotive skills.

The Duke and Duchess will tour the site and meet a group of young people involved in some of these programmes.

The royal couple will also visit the two automotive workshops onsite where young people are being taught mechanical skills and see a group of young people taking part in a race on the track.
