Watchdogs return for Nethy Bridge and Strathdearn areas

Nethy Bridge and Tomatin both have community councils once more after the deadline closed for elections.

The deadline for nominations was 12 noon on Thursday (February 1).

Highland Council has announced that 12 community councils have now formed uncontested including in Nethy and for Strathdearn.

The others are Acharacle, Cawdor and West Nairnshire, Duror and Kentallen, Fortrose and Rosemarkie, Marybank, Scatwell and Strathconon, Nairn West and Suburban, Slackbuie, Smithton, Spean Bridge, Roy Bridge and Achnacarry and Staffin.

Three community councils failed to attract half the maximum membership and so have not been able to reform.

These are Kinlochbervie Community Council, Kinlochleven Communtiy Council and Shieldaig Community Council.
