WATCH: Dava Bridge on A939 Nairn-Grantown road 'crumbling' after damage caused by vehicle

Part of the The Dava Bridge on the A939 road between Nairn and Grantown 'crumbled' in front of a startled eye witness.

A video shared on Facebook appears to show the parapet of the bridge give way and fall into the river below.

The bridge was damaged after being hit by a vehicle last night.

Police Scotland have confirmed that enquiries are ongoing.

Highland Council have said that the A939 Nairn-Grantown road will remain closed at its junction with the A940 for the rest of the weekend at least.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of damage caused by a vehicle to the Bridge of Dava on the A939 at Dava at around 5.10pm yesterday.

"Enquiries are ongoing.”
