We should challenge Holyrood ministers who visit Aviemore.

That was the message yesterday from Highland Tory MSP Jamie Halcro Johnston, as SNP business minister Ivan McKee looked in.

“After emerging from a tough couple of years caused by the disruption of the pandemic, Highland businesses are being hit particularly hard by the cost of living and high energy bills.

“It is right that all levels of government – UK, Scottish and local government – work toward a common purpose. That is to protect jobs, to support local businesses and to properly resource the local services that we depend on.

“So as the Scottish Government’s Business Minister pays a flying visit to the Highlands, it is only fair to challenge him on what he is – and will be - doing to help Highland businesses weather these tough times.

“For too long, this SNP-Green coalition has turned its back on the needs of business, from pushing forward with a workplace car parking tax to its stalling progress on the vital dualling of the A9 and A96. Now is the time to take action to back our local economy and ensure that livelihoods are protected.”
